Registration for courses

Distance learners must first fill out the Quinebaug Valley Community College Application for Enrollment and be admitted prior to registering for a Distance learning course. Upon acceptance, students will be given a Banner ID number and assigned an advisor. Distance learning students must contact an advisor by email before registering for courses. If you are uncertain about whom to contact, send your e-mail inquiry to information@qvcc.commnet.edu. First-time students will be unable to register without advisor permission. Your instructor's name and email address will be listed in myCommNet and your advisor's name and email address will be listed on the QVCC Educational Technology website.

Choosing courses

Before you register, review the course selections at myCommNet by selecting the term (e.g. Spring 2008), college (i.e. Quinebaug Valley CC), level (i.e. Credit) and instruction type (i.e. ONLN - Fully Online). Then click the "Get Courses" button. Record the CRN number for the course(s) you are selecting. You will need these CRN numbers to register.

Requirements for online registration

First time QVCC students taking courses only online may register through the online registration process after the registration period for continuing students has concluded.  New students must have a registration authorization code to register online.  The registration authorization code will be provided by your college advisor.  Be sure the college has your current email address.

When a new student has received both his or her Banner ID number and registration authorization code, he or she may register online.   Go to http://my.commnet.edu and follow the instructions below:

1. Enter Net ID (Net ID is the Banner ID@student.commnet.edu, for example, 87654321@student.commnet.edu) in Net ID field
2. Enter the first 3 letters of your birth month, first letter capitalized + & (shift+7 on the keyboard) + the last 4 numbers of your social security number, e.g., Jan&1234
   Note: You will be asked to create a new password
3. Enter old password, e.g., Jan&1234
4. Enter a new 8 character password (must consist of 3 of 4 of the following: upper case, lower case, symbol, number)
5. Click Login button 
6. Select a security question from the drop-down list
7. Enter an answer to the security question
   Note: It is important to complete this section in case you forget your Net ID password*
8. When login is complete, select QVCC from college list
9. Select "Registration/Student Records/Financial Aid"
10. Select "Registration and Payment"
11. Enter your registration authorization code
12. Select Register (add/drop) Classes
13. Select the Term, Spring 2008, click on Submit Term
14. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the CRNs and register
15. To print schedule, select "Student Detail Schedule"
16. Select "Semester" (e.g. Spring 2008); term and press Submit
    or
    Select "Student Schedule by Day & Time"
17. Select Print

Recommended: Go to the "Personal Information" area and check your address.  Also, enter a current email address if you have one. 

*If you cannot remember your Net ID password and did not complete the question and answer, it will be necessary to contact QVCC to have your password reset.  On the Danielson campus call (860) 412-7200, (860) 412-7242, or (860) 412-7262.  For Willimantic, call (860) 423-1824. Ask for a staff member with clearance to reset your Net ID password.

Note: You will need your Net ID user name and password to access WebCT Vista classes.
