"IDEAS ARE FREE" WORKSHOP FOR BUSINESSES WILL BE HELD AT QVCC

The Quinebaug Valley Plastics Institute is sponsoring a workshop for businesses focusing on how the best managers and organizations tap the ideas of front-line employees. “Ideas Are Free,” a workshop presented by Dr. Alan Robinson, co-author of the book by that name, will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson.

True excellence and sustainable competitive advantage are only possible with the attention to detail that comes from getting and implementing large numbers of ideas from employees. Front-line employees see many problems and opportunities that their managers don’t because they are the ones doing the work. Robinson and co-author Dean Schroeder studied more than 150 organizations in 17 countries to discover what worked, what didn’t, and why when it comes to promoting ideas. More

NEW DIETARY ASSISTANT PROGRAM OFFERED AT QVCC

Bridging the gap between allied health and nutritional services, Quinebaug Valley Community College is now offering a 50-hour Dietary Assistant Certificate program. Classes start at the Danielson campus on October 7.

This program will provide students with a stepping stone to an entry-level position in food service. Dietary assistants play an important role by helping the registered dietician or dietary manager in hospitals, long-term care facilities, day care facilities, school lunch programs, and public health offices.
