"2-SECOND COMMUTE" SEMINAR AT QVCC
Christine
Durst, co-author of The 2-Second Commute, will present a free one-day
seminar on Friday, September 21, at Quinebaug Valley Community College. The
focus of the seminar, sponsored by the College’s Career Center, is finding
legitimate home-based work.
In The Two-Second Commute: Join the Exploding Ranks of Freelance Virtual Assistants, readers discover a simple but empowering self-employment solution that is fast becoming an international phenomenon—the Virtual Assistance industry.
Durst says that with a 42-to-1 scam ratio among home-based job leads on the
Internet, it's hard for job seekers to know where to begin looking. The
seminar will teach participants to determine if they are a good candidate
for home-based work, customize their resume to make them a more appealing
“remote” hire candidate, and conduct effective home-based job searches
online.
Durst, a Woodstock resident, is co-founder and CEO of Staffcentrix, a
leading training and development firm providing virtual-careers training and
resources to the US Department of State and the Armed Forces. As an
authority on pro-family entrepreneurship and how to “de-rat-race” your life,
she appears often in the media, including Forbes, Good Morning America, the
Wall Street Journal, and BusinessWeek, as well as on numerous radio shows.
The seminar will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Seating is limited and
registration is required. Lunch is available for purchase in the cafeteria.
