He joined an archeological dig team at the Terracotta Warrior site. The Terracotta Army was discovered in March 1974 by local farmers to the east of Mount Lishan. The Terracotta Army was buried with the Emperor of Qin in 210-209 BC. He also spent time at the site where the remains of the 500,000-year-old Peking Man were excavated, Tian’amen Square, the Forbidden City and Renmin University of China (RUC), previously known as People's University of China.
Barcomb stated “I really enjoyed being immersed in the Chinese culture and would do it all over again if given the choice. I have spent time in Europe and in Egypt and may consider Cultural Anthropology as a career choice.”
Barcomb started at the College in the fall of 2004 and is a student worker in maintenance at the College.
