The Division Council of the Division of Learning and Student Development is the collective voice of the division. It serves as an elected body within the college to articulate and frame all academic and student development issues of Quinebaug Valley Community College. No change or creation of policy related to academics and student development, no development or change in curricular or programmatic credit offerings, should be made without the participation of the Division of Learning and Student Development.

Division Council

Division Council’s primary function is the development and oversight of policies, procedures, and proposals related to programs, curriculum, and other functions of the division and its constituent members in order to make recommendations to the Division Dean.  The Council also reviews, maintains, and updates Division Policies and Division Bylaws.

Academic Issues

The primary function of the Academic Issues Committee is curriculum review.  All new and revised courses and programs are subject to the review and approval of Academic Issues.  As time allows, the committee may also review and develop guidelines regarding issues and policies related to the academic functions of the division.

Policy & Planning

The primary function of the Policy & Planning Committee is reviewing and developing division policy, both academic and non-academic.  Academic policies may include, but are not limited to grading, instruction, and academic mission and goal statements.  Non-academic policies may include, but are not limited to skills testing, scheduling, advisement, recruitment, registration and records, library, and division mission and goals statements.
