Scholarship Listings
Please read the criteria for each scholarship very carefully.
#1 ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL OF NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT SCHOARSHIP ($1,000)
1. Applicant must be a female from Northeastern Connecticut
2. Must have a record of community service
3. Must have financial need
4. GPA: no restriction
#2 ARCHAMBAULT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
Preference will be given to students studying in business or medical related fields.
#3 RICHARD C. BERRY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
1. Applicant must be a continuing, transferring, or graduating student with 30 credits earned at QVCC
2. Must be enrolled in a degree program at QVCC with the goal of a four-year degree in engineering or math
3. Preference will be given to a student enrolled in the College of Technology
#4 ROSE BOVE & NORMAND O. La ROSE SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Awarded to a deserving student as determined by the President of QVCC.
#5 JENS AND TOMINA BRAATEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (2/$500)
1. Must be a veteran who has served in Iraq or Afghanistan
2. Applicant must provide proof of military service
3. GPA: no restriction
#6 DAVID T. BRITLAND MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Awarded to a special needs student overcoming obstacles to attend college or a student worker in the Maintenance Department
2. Must have financial need
#7 BURKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
Preference will be given to students studying in the fields of health care or criminal justice.
#8 RHODA L. & DAVID T. CHASE SCHOLARSHIP & EDUCATION FUND
Award 1 - Academic Achievement ($500)
1. Must have financial need
2. Must currently be a full-time student or be a beginning student planning to enroll on a full-time basis
#9 RHODA L. & DAVID T. CHASE SCHOLARSHIP & EDUCATION FUND
Award 2 - Motivation ($500)
1. Applicant must have attended QVCC for at least 2 semesters and have earned at least 12 credits
2. Must be a recent high school graduate
3. Must be highly motivated and must plan to attend on a full-time basis
4. Must have financial need
5. GPA: no restriction
(This award may be presented to a student, meeting the above criteria, on the basis of staff recommendation.)
#10 CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK SCHOLARSHIPS (15/$1,000)
1. Applicant must have completed at least 6 credits at QVCC and plan to register for 6 or more credits in both the upcoming fall and spring semesters
2. Must have financial need
3. Must live in a town in Northeastern Connecticut with a Citizens National Bank office—Brooklyn, Killingly, Putnam, Thompson, Woodstock
#11 CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK SCHOLARSHIPS (3/$1,000)
1. Applicant must be a continuing or graduating student with 30 credits earned at QVCC
2. Must have financial need
3. Must live in a town in Northeastern Connecticut with a Citizens National Bank office—Brooklyn, Killingly, Putnam, Thompson, Woodstock
#12 MARY ESPINOLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must be a Connecticut resident with financial need
2. Must be pursuing or planning to pursue a business program
#13 MICHAEL S. EVANS SCHOLARSHIP ($100)
This scholarship is awarded to a student at QVCC who is judged most eligible based upon efforts to succeed despite handicap and/or learning disability.
#14 EXCHANGE CLUB OF NORTHEAST CONNECTICUT'S NORMAN CORRIVEAU & KEITH MOSHER SCHOLARSHIPS (2/$1,000)
1. Preference will be given to an individual who excels in community service
2. Must be a resident of northeast Connecticut
#15 BETTY & NEWELL HALE SCHOLARSHIPS (2/$1,000)
1. Must have financial need
#16 KEITH JOHN KIPPER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Preference will be given to adults returning to school (not straight out of high school)
2. Must have financial need
3. Must be enrolled in the Human Services degree program
4. Applicant may be a continuing or graduating student
#17 LAKE ROAD GENERATING SCHOLARSHIP (2/$1,000)
1. Must have financial need
2. Must be a full-time continuing student
3. Must be studying science or engineering
#18 HANS LANGHAMMER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP ($1,500)
1. Applicant must be a student with disabilities as documented by a recognized and credentialed professional
2. Must be pursuing an associate in fine arts degree
#19 LEARNING IN RETIREMENT SCHOLARSHIP (3/$500)
1. Must be a resident of Northeastern Connecticut
2. Applicant must show motivation, financial need, and academic achievement of at least one semester at QVCC
3. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits each semester
4. Student must take majority of his/her courses at the Danielson campus
#20 LIBERTY BANK SCHOLARSHIP (5/$1,000)
1. Student must take classes primarily at the Willimantic Center
2. Student must have financial need
#21 MAY & FRANK MESSINGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must be a single parent
2. Must have completed 12 credits at QVCC
#22 EMIL & ALICE MILLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must be an area high school graduate entering QVCC
2. Must have financial need
#23 ROBERT E. & SYLVIA M. MILLER SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Preference will be given to students who have outstanding involvement in community service.
#24 VIRGINIA ATSALES MOUMOURIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Preference will be given to an adult female.
#25 NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must be enrolled in the Fine Arts program
2. Must have completed at least one semester at QVCC
3. Must be recommended by a faculty member with first hand knowledge of his/her artistic talent and promise
4. GPA: no restriction
#26 NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
1. Applicant must be a resident of the following towns served by the Chamber: Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling,Thompson, and Woodstock
2. Must have completed at least 12 credits of college work at QVCC
3. Must indicate plans to use your education in northeastern Connecticut
#27 NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP ($800)
1. Applicant must be studying in the field of management or other business programs
2. Applicant must live in northeastern Connecticut
#28 ALICE & LIONEL ROMNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must have financial need
2. Cannot be eligible for federal or state financial aid
3. Preference will be given to students in one of the following categories: non-native English speakers and native English speakers from developing countries
4. GPA: no restriction
#29 ROTORACT MAL SCHUMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
1. Must have financial need
2. Must be a continuing or graduating student
3. Must be studying business administration or management
#30 KATHLEEN A. RUSSELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($300)
1. Must be enrolled in any medical degree or medical certificate program at QVCC
2. Must be a resident of Windham County
3. Must be a female
4. Must have financial need
5. GPA: no restriction
#31 WILLIAM & DOROTHY ST. ONGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($750)
1. Must be a full time student
2. Must have earned at least 27 credits at QVCC
3. Must have been on the dean's list for the previous academic year
#32 THE SAVINGS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Awarded to a student who has completed 12 credits at QVCC and is continuing in a business program.
#33 A.L. SIMONDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (6/$750)
1. Applicant must be enrolled in a degree program at QVCC
2. Must be a resident of Windham County
3. Must have financial need
#34 SPIROL INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION SCHOLARSHIP (2/$1,500)
Preference given to students enrolled in the A.S. degree in Technological Studies (not Plastics).
#35 THOMPSON LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Student must be a Thompson resident.
#36 STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP (2/$500)
Standard scholarship criteria.
#37 STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND ART SCHOLARSHIP (2/$1,000)
1. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.5
2. Must have completed four courses in the area of fine art
3. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at either QVCC or a four-year institution
4. Must submit three pieces of art to a panel of professional artists for judging
#38 STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP (2/$1,000)
1. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.5
2. Must have completed four courses in the area of business or accounting
3. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at either QVCC or a four-year institution
4. Must submit an essay articulating why they should be the recipient and the impact of this scholarship on their educational plan and life situation
5. This scholarship is renewable for a second year if the 3.5 GPA and minimum two course load is maintained..
#39 UNITED NATURAL FOODS SCHOLARSHIP (2/$1,000)
1. Must be either a full-time student, or, if part-time, must be taking a minimum of 6 credits
2. Must have financial need
3. Must be enrolled in a degree program
4. Must provide evidence of community involvement through letters, certificates, etc.
5. If applicant is a continuing student, he/she must have a minimum GPA of 3.2
6. Preference will be given to United Natural Foods, Inc. employees and members of their immediate families
#40 ZIEGLER AWARD ($500)
1. Applicant must be a student graduating from QVCC
2. Applicant must have provided service to the college or the community
