This is a great class for all the MySpace lovers out there!  Design and create your own web page using HTML software, learn how to place graphics, format and place text, create links, and add jpegs and videos.  Given the recent concerns over web page creation, students will also learn how to protect themselves in cyberspace.

March Art Weekends for Kids March 8, 15, 22, 29

Sculpture
Work with clay and more in a variety of ways through pottery and basic sculpture.  Students will learn design techniques, mold functional objects, and even work on a pottery wheel.  Some discussion of glazing and kiln firing may be included depending upon availability and time constraints.

Graphic Design
Students will be introduced to the creative world of visual communication, broaden their understanding of graphic design, and learn the skills for increased creativity when designing publications for the web.  You will apply practical skills to different concepts using technical drawing, computer-aided design, imaging, color theories and concepts.

National Safety Council Certified Babysitters
This course, taught to the standards of the National Safety Council, will prepare attendees to properly care for children and infants. The interactive, hands-on learning techniques taught by the National Safety Council are recognized nationwide.  The program includes: self assessment, resume development, communication and problem solving, age appropriate play, developmental stages of learning, proper discipline, home safety assessment, CPR, and First Aid.   Participants will learn proper interviewing, resume writing, good hand washing techniques, safe handling of babies, changing the baby’s clothes, basic first aid applications and more.  Upon successful completion, participants will earn a National Safety Council certificate and this course will satisfy the requirements for certain Girl Scout and Boy Scout badges.

Crime Scene Investigation
Learn about crime scene investigation, detective work, and criminal justice through in-class discussion of real cases and guest lecture presentations.  In the past, guest visitors from the local K-9 unit, the crime scene investigation van, police officers, and attorneys have been a huge hit.  Case analysis may include: blood-type information, collecting fingerprints, analyzing handwriting, collecting shoe prints, and investigating tool marks.  Please note – this course contains graphic material which may not be suitable for all students
