The
STRIDE Program is designed to provide
participants with job readiness, job search, job placement, and job retention
skills and supports that will promote
access to higher paying, personally
relevant jobs. These jobs satisfy local
labor market demands statewide. Participants
are non-custodial parents currently
incarcerated at York Correctional institution
in Niantic and Bergin Correctional in Storrs. Participants receive one/
one counseling and group supports as well
as pre and post release case management
services.
In addition, community transition plans
address barriers and needs regarding
housing, transportation, clothing and
family reunification.STRIDE is made possible through the collaborative efforts of CT’s visionary state legislators, the CT
Departments of Corrections, Labor, & Social Services Welfare to Work Initiative.
544 Participants served since program inception in 1999
