Frequently Asked Questions

College Central

Why should I see a career counselor?

It is always to your advantage to set goals early in your college career. Statistics have shown that students who have a goal in mind are more likely to complete their college education. We can help you to look at families of careers that may be a great fit for you.

Our career testing can also inform you of personality traits that can help you in all aspects of your work and personal life. We will also assist you with resume development, job search and interview skills as well tips on networking yourself to a great job. It's fun and  FREE  to QVCC students and Alumni.

What if I’ve graduated but still need some assistance?

We are here to help. Our services are for a lifetime. We will assist you in writing or updating your resume and in all aspects of you career or job search. We will even provide you with career testing if you are considering a new career or degree. It's all  FREE.

How do I make an appointment?

Call the Career Services Center at 860-412-7266 and set up an appointment. We have both day and evening hours.

What information do you have on job opportunities in the region?

We currently post all jobs on the Career Services Jobs Boards at both the Danielson and Willimantic Campuses. We will soon have an online job posting service, so stay tuned.

As an employer, how would I post a position at QVCC?

Contact a career advisor at QVCC and we will be happy to assist you in developing the posting. Or, you may e-mail your posting to  eloveday@qvcc.commnet  or  akacerik@qvcc.commnet.edu. Positions will be advertised at both campuses.

How do I find out about job fairs and special events at your campus?

Job fair and special event information will be posted on the career services web site. We welcome both students and community members to participate.

I live in the region but have not been a QVCC student. Am I eligible for career services?

You are eligible to attend events, survey the job posting boards and to visit the resource area of the Career Center. If you are considering becoming a QVCC student you may make an appointment as a prospective student. We can assist you by familiarizing you with the careers our programs will prepare you for.
