Because of the structure of this WebBoard, and to deliberate upon each ratification or proposed appointment of WAOE officers and Committee Chairs individually, the thread of this agenda item is continued after OTHER BUSINESS, that is, after "Policies for sending documents requiring signatures."

I support the Chairperson's proposal to defer discussion of this item until a later stage of the meeting, after closure has been reached on the formal agenda items.
I understand that a formal vote is not required on this proposal, which is essentially a procedural directive from the Chairperson, to which - judging from the lack of messages - there is no opposition.

A point of information. This item does receive many votes. We vote, as directors of a corporation (rather than as officers of an unincorporated organization), to ratify the appointment of each officer by name.

Under time constraints, let us make Committee Chairs the first round of ratifications of WAOE officers. For their role in WAOE and specific duties we may also have to refer readers to WAOE's Bylaws, policies, and the consensus reflected in WAOE-RING-L discussion list deliberations archived via a listserver at California State University, Sacramento.

Regarding agenda item RATIFICATION OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE CHAIRS, is there any discussion or motions on this topic?
Note that appointments are at different stages. Most Committee Chairs have been appointed already by consent of the WAOE Coordinating Ring and are to be ratified, while on the other hand not all members of WAOE Committees and forming workgroups (O-CREWs) can be formally appointed at this stage.
Note also that the following Committees are chaired by elected officers (WAOE Directors), and therefore do not need to be ratified at this Directors' Meeting:

Membership Committee -- Membership Chair
Public Information Committee -- Executive Secretary

This office is not a Committee Chair but an appointed office in a consultative relationship with the Research and Publications Committee. The Publicity Coordinator maintains a similar relationship with the Public Information Committee augmenting the work of the Executive Secretary. All the rest of the appointments proposed at this meeting are of Committee Chairs. Whereas, given time limitations, general members of WAOE Committees may not need to be appointed at Directors' Meetings but rather at the policy level of the Directors in consultation with the WAOE Coordinating Ring.

The following clarification of this agenda item and summary of proposed appointments detailed individually elsewhere on this WebBoard is provided.
