Regarding the agenda item of the WAOE PRINCIPAL OFFICE, is there any discussion or motions on this topic?

Until the IRS (The US Federal Tax Agency) approves our nonprofit tax exemption, it would be unwise to change the address of record, which at the moment, is my home in Rio Linda, California where I do keep the records that California or IRS officials might ask me for in making their decision.
I would prefer not to use my home as the Principal Office, since I live a private family life and do not wish to keep public office hours. I prefer to work with others online when possible. Therefore, I would prefer that WAOE select another Principal Office after IRS exemption determination letter arrives. This office would have to be large enough to keep records in, some paper and some online, so it would also have to have a computer capable of being online. It would have to be attended enough that officials of the state, IRS, or officers of WAOE who needed official archived paperwork to meet legal requirements could get to these records.
My office at California State University would meet this requirement except for the online computer (the old 386 in my office cannot go online--so I use the online computers in the lab next door). I have not yet started the process of asking for permission to do this. But any WAOE voting member in California with office space who is willing or whose department and school are willing to be listed as the official address of WAOE (without compensation at this time) could volunteer to host the Principal Office of WAOE. The WAOE voting member who shared that office would become the "representative for incorporation" and would have some basic responsibilities for filing, showing paperwork to officials, receiving mail, or sending or faxing paperwork to officers of WAOE on occasion. Once the corporation has its exemption, this would not require more than a few hours of effort per year on average.

I strongly support the idea of having a registered member of WAOE who lives in California provide the Association with its required Principal Office space, on a voluntary basis. This is an excellent example of drawing the membership into our operations, making them feel part of what we do. I would urge, however, that the member selected by a recognised voting member of WAOE. This would give some surety about continuing commitment, and also make all WAOE deliberations open to him or her. (Although I suggest that further discussion - outside this meeting - is needed to determine the relationship of the selected member to the Coordinating Ring, and to consider the related problem of the address changing or lapse of membership by the selected person).
Having said that, I agree with Mihkel's suggestion that this matter be left in Jenna's hands. Unless any other Director has something to add, discussion of this item could now be closed.
