WAOE cannot at this time pay any salaries to any
of our elected or appointed officers. For the time being, we need to rely on the voluntary
efforts of members who have agreed to participate because they wish to help WAOE reach its
educational and professional goals. I would recommend against WAOE attempting to pay
salaries until we have sufficient funds already available to cover the various payroll
deductions and at least a full year's salary for each officer to whom we might want to pay
a salary.
Of our five directors, only two at any one time can be receiving compensation for their
work as directors or officers of WAOE. Again, since we do not have the funds set aside for
this purpose yet, I would recommend against WAOE paying compensation to any director.

I understand that, in our current financial
position as stressed by Jenna, we cannot contemplate compensation for expenses to any
member, let alone remuneration to Directors. However, these are already important issues
for some voluntary participants (me being one of them) and I would like to see us handle
the item in a way that clearly keeps the issues on the table. Accordingly, I move ...
That WAOE shall not pay salaries or other remuneration or make reimbursements for expenses
to Directors or other office holders or members prior to the determination of budgeted
income and expenditure for the period July 1 1999 to June 30 2000; and
That such payments shall be subject to the adoption by not later than the end of August
1999 of policy and procedure regarding salaries, remuneration and reimbursement of
expenses, including a commitment to annual review of the policy and procedure and schedule
of payments.
