STUDY NEXT SUMMER IN LONDON WITH QVCC
Quinebaug
Valley Community College will be offering a special opportunity for students
to travel to London next summer and earn six college credits.
The London program, cosponsored by the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), takes students to London for two weeks in June and immerses them in British culture, history, and politics. Classes will be held in the AIFS student center with students staying with British families.
AIFS Partnership Programs are formal agreements between educational institutions and AIFS in which AIFS provides logistical support, student services, classrooms and housing at a location abroad. This enables institutions to conduct their own academic program abroad at minimum expense. AIFS Partnership Programs provide study abroad opportunities around the world for over 2,000 students a year.
Partnership arrangements enable institutions to provide low-cost study abroad options for their students who may not be able to spend a semester or regular summer period. According to Jayne Battye, assistant professor of political science who will serve as leader and instructor, the two courses will be on special topics dealing with British history and politics. Battye is a native of Bradford, England and travels there on a regular basis to visit family.
Permission of the instructor is required for students to participate in the London program. Applications are due by Friday, March 6. For more information or an application, contact Battye at 860 412-7254 or jbattye@qvcc.commnet.edu
