GRADUATION INFORMATION

Are you graduating this year?  Here is all the information you need to know about graduation from QVCC.

Prior to graduation day:

  • All students need to apply in advance for graduation. You can do this by filling out a Graduation Application in the Learning & Student Development Office in Danielson or at the front desk in Willimantic.
  • Graduation is not automatic. Your academic file is audited and you will receive a graduation audit letter that describes any remaining requirements that must be completed in order to graduate.
  • All students receiving either an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science degree MUST complete the graduation research paper requirement. Contact your advisor for further information on the research paper requirement.
  • Attendance at the commencement is voluntary. If you decide not to attend, your diploma will be mailed to you.

If you are attending graduation:

  • You need to indicate your correct height and weight on the graduation application so your cap & gown will fit.
  • Cap & Gowns will also be picked up in the Career Center.  Willimantic students must indicate their desire to pick up their caps and gowns at the Willimantic Center on the application for graduation or they may pick them up on graduation day. Honor cords and PTK stoles will also be available for those who are eligible.

Graduation Day:

  • This year's graduation day is Thursday, June 3, 2010.
  • Location for graduation always depends on the weather. If the weather is good, graduation is held at the Danielson campus outside in the amphitheater. In case of inclement weather, graduation is held at an alternate location (to be announced). 
  • The commencement ceremony begins promptly at 6:00pm. Graduates are asked to arrive at the Danielson campus at 5:00 pm. Staff members will be present to assist you with your cap and gown.
  • Commencement takes approximately an hour and a half. A reception is held afterwards in the cafeteria for graduates, family, and friends.
  • You will pick up your actual diploma in the cafeteria. Only empty diploma covers are given out during the ceremony.
