STRIDE PRogram recognized at "prospering communities, thriving families"conference (10/15/09)

DANIELSON, CT — The STRIDE Program from Quinebaug Valley Community College will be recognized on Monday, October 19, 2009, at the “2009 Prospering Communities, Thriving Families” conference at the Hartford Marriott Downtown, Hartford, CT at 4:30 pm.

The STRIDE Program is one of the groups receiving recognition this year for their tireless work on shaping the 2010-2011 state budget. Also receiving recognition is Speaker of the House Christopher Donovan, President of the Senate Don Williams, Appropriations Committee Co-Chair Senator Toni Harp,

Director of EARN, Doug Hall, previous Director of Operations and Research at CT Voices for Children and Better Choices for Connecticut.

STRIDE Program Coordinator, Julie Scrapchansky stated, “We have worked very diligently, never losing sight of our goal throughout this fiscal crisis. We have spent countless hours advocating for our participants. We are honored that STRIDE has been recognized for this award.”

The 2009 Prospering Communities, Thriving Families” conference is sponsored by CT Association for Community Action, CT Association for Human Services, CT Council of Family Service Agencies, CT Voices for Children, CT Women’s Education and Legal Fund, End Hunger CT!, Legal Assistance Resource Center of CT/Connecticut Alliance for Basic Human Needs and The Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.
